Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to Indians to avoid buying for a year, prioritise work from home, and reduce petrol and diesel consumption by using public transport among other measures to cut energy usage and conserve foreign exchange. Made initially at a rally in Hyderabad, where the Prime Minister also asked Indians to avoid lavish international destination weddings and buy locally made products, this appeal was later posted on X by the government and framed as "Nation First". The opposition parties have slammed the appeal as evidence of the government's mismanagement of the finances and India's energy security.

Pop star has sued Samsung for using her image on packaging for the company's TVs without her permission. The artist's $15 million suit alleges that the company used her photograph on various television models sold across the US. The TV boxes also garnered attention on social media and the pop star's fans named them after her.
